It’s been a while since I shared an update on my daughter, Tori. I’m happy to say that she’s now allowing us back into her life and has called me several times to talk.
This shift seemed to happen after our son, her brother, was baptized on my birthday, November 17th. Tori and Kayla both came, and it was the first time I met Kayla. We had informed our church’s prayer team ahead of time so they could be praying for us and that special day. Our church family was so loving, greeting them both before and after the service. Both our Pastor and Executive Pastor made sure to greet them as well.
As they were leaving, we hugged them both, and we could tell that Kayla felt a little awkward about the hug. (She dresses in a masculine style and has a short, “man’s” haircut.) It was after this that communication began to open up again between us.
Tori allowed her Dad to bring her flowers for Valentine's Day at her office and welcomed him in to see her office. She also initiated a hug.
Tori and her brother, Gabe, were very close before she moved out at 23. They used to go on sibling dates, with sushi being their favorite. Now, they’ve started having lunch dates every week. What’s even more amazing is that Tori works only 3 minutes from our house, even though she lives 40 minutes away! (See how God works!) This has been such a blessing for Gabe, especially after the loss of my father in January 2023. Gabe and my father were best friends, and at the same time, Tori cut off contact with us, so Gabe struggled deeply with both grief and depression.
We’ve been praying over Gabe and anointing him regularly.
It’s been a little more than two months now that Tori and Gabe have been going on weekly dates, and Gabe has even invited Tori and Kayla to church again. It’s such a beautiful and healing step forward, and we continue to trust in God’s plan for their relationship.
We pray always for them both to be saved and for Kayla's family also to be saved.
We ask for continued prayers for them both to be saved and walk away from this sinful lifestyle.
I long for that day when she calls me to tell me she has accepted the Lord as her savior and asks to come home.
I have my good days and bad days but God is always filled me with peace that I give it all to him and just never stop praying over them.
I'm so thankful that we have y'all as our extended family that we can lean on and pray with us and for us.
Hugs,
Jennifer Wright (simple faith)
Continued prayers!
