Praising God that I was able to make my grandfather's day. He loves Christmas but has no decorations, and my grandmother doesn't decorate for him. I was able to find a foot tall Christmas tree and little battery powered lights for it. Spent a good amount of time finding ornaments for him, things that he really likes and talks about from when he was a younger man, [rode a motorcycle and was a pilot etc.] And took a lot of time in making it pretty and special for him.
The other night I went to take back their laundry. [washer and dryer still broken] And my grandfather was having a good day and up for a visit. That's when I brought in the little tree. He was so happy! He started to tear up and thanked me. And we had a good little visit. Lord willing soon The topic of Christmas will come up and lead to the Gospel.
My grandmother was not up for a Gospel conversation, but the topic of Christianity came up. [she claims to be a Christian but has no fruit] I gave her one of my new tracts, and she was interested in it. I asked her to read it and let me know what she thought. Now I highly doubt that she'll read it. But next time I see her Lord willing she will be mentally able to have a follow up conversation.
May God be pleased to save them! Prayers appreciated.
I absolutely get so excited when God shows off! I take daily care of my 95 3/4 year old father in-law who absolutely wonderful and an inspiration to all. He still lives very independently by himself & until recently still drove. I drive an hour each way daily to be with him. We recently learned he has a cancer mass growing in his bladder and now another cancer growing behind the bladder. He has a catheter because of it all. Well this all added up to a nasty kidney infection as well as a severe UTI. He was admitted to a hospital near him that he insisted on using. (BTW NEVER AGAIN GOING THERE!!!) He was to be discharged after two weeks and still not-so-great shape. While driving over to get him to go his home where my husband and I would stay with him indefinitely, I asked our Lord and Savior to guide me to do whatever needed to be done. I felt a desire to call a girlfriend of mine and told her what was unfolding today. She told me about a physical rehab facility called Encompass Health that is NOT like a nursing home! I promised Dad I would never put him in a old folks home or "skilled nursing." She used it with her parents one by one with amazing recovery results. I'd never heard of this place. When I got to the hospital, I tried to make it happen. With God's amazing assistance, God broke the rules and Dad qualified to go there. We are here for roughly 10 days and he has made amazing progress with fantastic care. They have tested, identified and are treating painful issues that were making him miserable that the not-so-good hospital just drugged him up. God is so good and taking care of Dad with amazing love and grace. Like I said, I love it when God shows off! Sorry this was so long, but I have to sing God's praises for intervening on Dad's behalf.
Okay I know that sounds weird, but bear with me. :-)
Last weekend I was out and about, and went to a grocery store that we don't usually go to. When coming out there was a older man [80ish I'd assume] gathering canned goods for a food bank.
He saw my hat, which has “PSALM 2” on it. Called me over and said that he liked it, To which I asked him if he was a Christian. He responded that Yes! That he was a Christian and was actually out gathering food for his church's ministry.
Then he asked me to remind him which Psalm, Psalm 2 was. [I've worn that hat for 3ish years and this is the first time someone actually asked about it!] And I was able to recite it in public from memory, for him, without fumbling over the words too much!
“Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed,
saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”
Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
Psalm 2:1-12
He was impressed I could say it all for him, and we talked a little more. And we were both mutually encouraged.
I know most of you are in the south or places where people are nicer and more likely to be Christian, but here in Delaware it is very rare to find another Believer out and about. It was such an encouragement to find one! To God be the glory! He knew I needed to be encouraged. Because it is very easy to feel all alone as Christians in this dark world, but Christ is risen, and will have His bride, the Church. We're not alone! So onward with Matthew 28! I am trusting God that He will bring reformation and revival not only to my state but to the world! And by His Grace, the glorious Gospel of Salvation will cover the earth as the waters cover the seas!
I sure enjoyed hearing and sharing this testimony this morning! I pictured you sharing the Psalm that landed on itching ears. May God give us many more opportunities!
Such a sweet and loving testimony!
