Ok, so this was when I was a kid. Probably 11 or 12. It was summer. The best time of the year, summer vacation. My mother decided I should go to vacation Bible school. So I was on school vacation and had to go to school??? To add insult I had to walk to the church. But at least I had a friend to meet up with at church. Well one Friday leaving school I noticed a pile of garbage in a lower level stairwell. My friend had noticed it too and we said to each other we should fix that. So we agreed to meet at church on Saturday (not a school day) and clean that mess up. So we did, garbage bags in hand. We'll Monday came along and we are a Bible school again. The pastor teaching the class started with, does anyone know about someone cleaning up the back stairwell? Well my friend and I turned to look at each other, are we in trouble? The paster asked do you two boys know about this. Well it's hard to lie to your pastor. So we addmited we did it. He asked us why did you do that? Now we knew we were in trouble. So I spoke up and said, it needed to be done and nobody was doing it. The pastor replied that what we did was what a true Christian would do. You see a need and you fulfill it. We felt a little humbled then. The question is did God do this? My friend and I were born into two parent households. Who took us to church. Made us go to Bible school. Who taught us right from wrong. And when we saw a need we took care of it. Did God whisper in our ears to clean that mess up? Perhaps he did. But he also gave us parents that stayed together, took us to church, and taught us to be good Christians. So I figure God was in charge from the start, and I thank God every day for my life. So to wrap this up, God is involved with every step of our lives, weather we know it or not.
So he gets the credit.
Amen. "see and need and fulfil it." That is a great motto.
