I need some help here. When Brad read this, this morning, it was a moment of fresh Holy Spirit, seeing this passage as WYSIWYG.
Mat 8:10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.
Mat 8:11I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
Mat 8:12while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Mat 8:13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.
Applying what we've learned through this study, with Jesus getting to the heart if the matter and correcting those who were listening, it's the first time I've noticed vs12 instead of the Centurion and his faith IN Jesus.
At this point of the Sermon on the Mt. the Jews were only expecting Jews in the Kingdom not Gentiles. But Jesus points out that some of their jewish brethren will be in utter darkness.....their racial identity was no guarantee of the kingdom.
Have you ever noticed that Jesus was pointing out the Spiritual Kingdom here?
The Church, was still a mystery at this point, it had not yet been revealed.

What do you think?
Brad mentioned that the names in the geneology in Chapter 1 were significant....
Adam: man
Seth: appointed
Enosh: mortal, frail, or miserable
Kenan (Cainan): sorrow, dirge, elegy
Mahalalel: the Blessed God (coming from Mahalal: blessed or praise El: name for God)
Jared: this is from the verb which means “shall come down”
Enoch: commencement or teaching
Methuselah: his death shall bring (coming from Meth: death Shalach: to bring/send forth)
Lamech: despairing (root of this word is where we get our English word lament or lamentation)
